The event celebrates it’s 30th. year anniversary with its 2018 edition and so because of its continual growth and a general reputation of being a truly

“Relaxed Ballooning Vacation”

the duration of this international event has been extended to 15 days instead of the usual 10 days.

This two-week period will allow teams and family to enjoy their time to the full in the area with breathtaking early morning flights every day for the more “enthusiastic” teams with the rest of the day to enjoy everything Italy has to offer…Not only a wonderful holiday break for the whole team and family to remember but also a true international sporting event for the more “Competitive” of the teams who appreciate a relaxed competition but with an added incentive of returning home with a

magnificent cup and 1000 bottles of local wine.

In the organisation’s constant endeavour to improve the event further and because of the truly beautiful flight area over our two neighbouring valleys of Sagrantino and Todi, it has been decided to operate two launch sites one in each of the two valleys. Both launch sites, Parco Acquarossa and Todi used with success during the past for many years now, allow teams the opportunity to choose on a daily basis from which base they would prefer to conduct their flight and subsequent refueling that morning.

Because 99% of our balloon team participants travel from a far to join us it was decided to make their journey even more worthwhile with an extention to the event duration allowing a longer stay once arrived … although by all means teams are welcome to participate even for a less number of days should they prefer.

“Event Format”

The event will, as usual for the past 30 years, be organised SOLELY by one organisation,
namely AGPIM (ex Mongolfiera Management) in the name of Ralph Shaw.

It is expected a higher number of balloon teams will this year participate and so because of this, in order to maintain the event a relatively small “Relaxed Ballooning Vacation”, the event will use for the first time ever, two areas (Sagrantino & Todi) with a base in each area. The aim is to secure circa the same number of balloon teams in each area and the programme, both flight & social, although seperate ,will be the same for both areas in line with those of the past years………………Flights every morning, same refueling procedure in each base post flight with social events in the area’s town squares, cantinas etc.

With this new format the main points to remember will be:

Teams must choose to participate and register (as shown in Official Entry/ Registration Form) in one area and reserve their accommodation accordingly.
However all teams can decide before the morning’s flight which base they would wish to use. (Of course they will have to be prepared to travel just that little bit longer that morning should they choose to take-off other than from their “registered” launch -site!!)
The flight programme would be variable because of this but the social programme would be fixed with invitations to attend the social events extended only to those participants registered in their one area.
Every week on two occasions the balloons will fly ALL together utilising both bases equally. These flights will be fiesta flights but they will also be used for competitions, (Hare & Hounds, Fly-in, etc.) (The winning team will receive, apart from the wine, a beautiful exact deruta ceramic replica of the silver” Todi Sagrantino Cup” personalised with his name and delivered to his home before the end of december 2018).
There will be NO limit as to how long a team would choose to join us as we would be just delighted to have you join us here especially for 2018 our 30th. anniversary year!!
Each pilot will attend Pilot Check-in at the base of the area registered for those teams wishing to participate from the very beginning or on arrival should they choose to arrive at a later date.
